After a young girl informed her mother he touched her inappropriately while he was in the state, a worship and church youth group leader from Wyoming is now being charged with a crime in Florida.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that Richard Shaw, 69, was taken into custody by the Riverton Police Department in Wyoming for lewd molestation, a first-degree crime, based on a warrant out of Polk County, Florida.
It is said that in December 2023, while Shaw was visiting Lakeland, Florida, he groped the girl, who is not yet 12 years old. According to the PCSO, the child told her mother that Shaw had touched her both over and under her clothes when he was back in Wyoming.
Shaw reportedly acknowledged touching the girl when the mother phoned and spoke with him, according to the sheriff’s office.
