Saudi clubs show interest in former Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea: sources
According to ESPN, several European and Saudi Pro League teams are interested in former Manchester United keeper David de Gea.
De Gea has been without a club since his summer departure from Old Trafford. Over the course of seven months, he has received numerous offers, but he is still a free agent.
Although the Saudi Pro League (SPL) attempted to sign the Spain international in the summer, the source claims that the player has since had discussions with Al Shabab.
Due to an inability to reach an agreement on a new contract, the 33-year-old left United after 12 years.
After Erik ten Hag decided to pursue the signing of André Onana as his new No. 1, United was eager to reach an agreement where De Gea would have had to take a pay cut.
Al-Shabab, who currently sit 11th in the SPL standings, has demonstrated ambition this month by attempting to sign Miguel Almirón from Newcastle United and appoint Jose Mourinho as their manager.
According to a source, De Gea has not ruled out signing with an SPL team, but he would prefer to continue his career in Europe. A source told ESPN that Andreas Pereira, a midfielder for Fulham, is attracting interest from SPL teams.
In his eighteen months at Craven Cottage after joining from United for £10 million ($12.7 million) in 2022, the Brazil international has made an impression. He has four Premier League assists this season, compared to six last season.
Pereira’s contract with Fulham runs through 2026, with an additional year’s option. Fulham must pay a sizable sum before allowing the 28-year-old to depart.
