Mother’s Arrest in Colorado: A Family’s Tragedy

A Colorado mother who was detained over the weekend and is suspected of killing two of her young children and hurting a third had her initial court appearance on Monday in London.

Following her initial court appearance in Westminster Magistrates’ Court, 35-year-old Kimberlee Singler was placed under arrest. A hearing on whether to extradite her to the United States to face charges of two first-degree murder, one attempted murder, three child abuse crimes, and one assault is set for January 29.

Singler vanished just as Colorado authorities were getting ready to take her into custody in connection with the murders of her son, 7, and daughter, 9, who were discovered dead on December 19 after what seemed to be a break-in. Singler was hospitalized, and his daughter, 11, was admitted with minor injuries.

Singler first received assistance from the police and was considered a victim of a crime. But when the police tried to apprehend her on December 26, they were unable to find her.

She was apprehended by police on Saturday in London’s Kensington neighborhood.

A lengthy legal battle with her ex-husband over the children had been her reality, according to court documents.
