James Christian Kimmel was born to Joann Iacono and James Kimmel on November 13, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Inspired by David Letterman’s early career in radio, Jimmy Kimmel started his first job at a radio station while he was still in high school. He continued throughout college and eventually secured a position as a morning co-host on KZOK-FM in Seattle’s The Me and Him Show, his first paid radio gig. In 1990, he was fired along with co-host Kent Voss, primarily because of the expensive stunts they would do live. Kimmel enlisted his childhood friend Carson Daly as an intern to launch his program in Palm Springs, California.
